Accommodation is in great demand once more again in December, when holidaymakers choose to spend Christmas on Bali, often staying to see in the New Year.

Other times when the island's accommodation is rather busy is during the national holidays and biggest festivals, which draw many Indonesians here to join in with the celebrations. Lodging on Bali is much easier to come by outside of these periods, when the island can be surprisingly quiet and hotels are much more likely to provide discounts

The sheer choice of hotels on Bali offers one of the largest selections of accommodation in the whole of Indonesia, with luxury beach resorts being especially appealing.

Kuta tends to be a good choice for backpackers searching for cheap lodging, along with families looking for reasonably priced mid-range hotels, holiday bungalows, private villas and even cottages with thatched-roofs. Luxury accommodation next to Kuta Beach is extremely popular, although most are separated from the actual beachfront by a busy road.

Surfers favour the lodging along the road connecting Uluwatu (Ulu Watu) and Padang Padang, or alternatively stay in Kuta and drive to the best scuba diving spots, when tend to be less than an hour's drive away.

Head to Bali's Nusa Dua (Two Islands) for the very best beach resorts, where each of the hotels here come complete with the very own expanse of beach, swimming pools and excellent amenities. Further accommodation can be found in good supply within Jimbaran, Jungutbatu, Seminyak, Ubud and on the far easterly coast of Bali, within the villages around Amed, Tulamben and Yeh Sanih.
